Anubias barteri var. Dragon claw
Anubias barteri var. 'Dragon Claw' is a rare and visually distinctive cultivar of Anubias barteri, named for its deeply serrated, claw-like leaf margins that set it apart from other varieties. Like other Anubias, it originates from tropical West Africa and is well-adapted to submerged or emersed growth in freshwater aquariums. The plant features broad, dark green, leathery leaves that are more textured and uniquely shaped than the standard barteri types, offering a bold aesthetic when attached to hardscape. It is best positioned in the midground or as an accent epiphyte on rocks or driftwood, where its unusual leaf form can be visually appreciated. Similar to other Anubias, the rhizome should not be buried in substrate—it must be kept exposed to avoid rot. It has a very slow growth rate, producing new leaves gradually, especially in low-tech setups. The plant tolerates low to medium light levels and does not require CO₂ injection, though moderate lighting and occasional fertilization can slightly improve leaf growth and vigor. It performs well in a temperature range of 22–28°C (72–82°F) and a pH of 6.0–7.5,
