Anubias barteri 'Petite'
Anubias barteri 'Petite' is a miniature cultivar of Anubias barteri var. nana, highly valued in aquascaping for its compact size, extreme hardiness, and slow growth rate. Native to West Africa, this plant has been selectively bred for its dwarf form, producing small, dark green, leathery leaves typically measuring only 1–2 cm in length. It is ideal for foreground or hardscape attachment in both nano and large aquariums, often used on driftwood, rocks, or other decorations to add texture and natural appearance. 'Petite' should not be buried in substrate, as its rhizome must remain above the surface to prevent rot. It thrives in a wide range of conditions, tolerating low to high light, though growth is very slow, even under optimal lighting and CO₂ conditions. While CO₂ injection and fertilization can enhance leaf color and vitality, they are not necessary for basic survival, making it an excellent choice for low-tech aquariums. The plant prefers temperatures between 22–28°C (72–82°F) and a pH of 6.0–7.5, adapting well to various water parameters.
